Show opens Friday, May 25, 7-11pm, and runs until June 24.
The next in my series of “Avatar” themed travel posters. This one is for “Republic City”, the new metropolis that “The Legend of Korra” will take place in. There’s a statue of Aang in the bay which reminds me of the Statue of Liberty.
Can’t wait for the new series to premiere.

Oh man, I’m debating, I’m debating…
If I could buy one of those for my Android tablet then I’d be so happy
I mean, it’s not even available yet, but if one were created for the Samsung Galaxy I would buy one immediately and I would use it often. Painting is one of my favorite mediums and I’m so sad I don’t get to do it more often. It feels so much less restricted than any other coloring medium does, imo. Blending is so much easier and it just feels a lot more free.
When I’m not cramped in a shoebox room I’m definitely going to pick it up =)

I feel this only applies to the small majority of hipsters who think a paint splotch is deep and meaningful. I agree, art won’t save the world but nevertheless, I do feel it has the potential to save the soul of humanity.

Oh god I agree with you. I wouldn’t want to be in the business if I didn’t believe that it could change peoples lives.
I don’t get what this sign was supposed to do/aimed at. People who make art as a hobby? Or even as their job? I mean, not everything has to save the world.
I feel like this is the same thing as saying something like “playing video games won’t save the world”. No shit, but does that mean people who like video games shouldn’t play them? No way.
And in a way art will save the world. Art is about creativity and without creativity and innovation technology will stop advancing which isn’t a good thing (obviously). Without art there is no innovation because there is no creativity.
Whoever made that sign is obviously hypocritical anyways because volunteering at a soup kitchen isn’t going to save the world, either. It’s going to help feed people in need, of course, which is important but I guess said person never heard of art therapy? Art therapy also helps people.
Saying art won’t save the world is such a broad statement, especially in this context since it doesn’t make a lot of sense.
And liking art makes someone pretentious? Fuck, this is news to me.
